Who's Hiring – Top employers week of 1-18-10



Who's Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 1/18/10.


Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings:

The hospitality, business services, retail, engineering, banking, defense, health care, and telecommunications verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nations’ leading job boards.

Hospitality held onto the #1 spot this week as Pizza Hut, and Hilton were among the top hiring firms this week. Business Service firms IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, CSC and SAIC continue strong hiring.

Retail hiring continues strong in January, with Blockbuster and Sears still in the top 10 well after the holiday season. Other top retail hiring firms include Kmart, Murphy USA, Food Lion, and Radio Shack. Engineering firms were this week’s surprise with Praxis Engineering making it’s appearance on Who’s hiring at #4.

Banking continued strong this week as JPMorganChase registered #5 on the hiring list, while Wells Fargo, Bank of America, PNC, and Fifth Third were also included in the top hiring companies. Defense companies remained top hiring firms led by US Army, General Dynamics, and Raytheon, making the list.

Health care hiring continued its strong past quarter, led by UnitedHealth, HCR Manorcare, Gentiva Health, Aegis Therapies, Amedisys Home Health, and Quest Diagnostics among the health care top hiring companies. Telecommunications continued strong hiring, with AT&T and Verizon still staffing actively, joined by T-Mobile.

Based on surveys of US job advertisements in the top job board aggregators, the following companies added the most job openings:

Job Openings Added This Week:

The Engineering, Hospitality, Business Services, Technology, Retail, Telecommunications and Health care verticals are the top industries with new job postings based on a survey of the nations’ leading job advertisements added during the past seven days.

Engineering firms led new hiring advertisements this week, with Praxis Engineering taking the top spot, and URS Corporation included in the top hiring firms. Hospitality continues to staff as Pizza Hut and Hilton took out new employment listings.

Business Services continued heavy hiring with IBM, SAIC, Accenture, Deloitte, and CSC all in the top employers. Technology is back as KEYW made #4 on the list of top employers joined by Infoscitex, and Clearwire as top employers. Retail continued strong post holiday hiring with Toys”R”Us, Sears, Petco, Food Lion, Kmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Radio Shack, and CVS Caremark in the top hiring firms.

Telecommunications remained strong for the past quarter with T-Mobile moving to #6, and with AT&T and Verizon continuing as top employment advertisers. Health care returned to the top 10 with Gentiva Health Services, HCR Manorcare, Boehringer Ingelheim, Amedisys Home Health, and Quest Diagnostics
included in the top employment new ads this week.
