Who's Hiring – Top employers week of 2-22-10


Who's Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 2/22/10.


Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings:

The business services, hospitality, telecommunications, retail, banking, health care, and defense verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nations’ leading job boards.

Business Service topped this week’s list with IBM, Deloitte,and Booz Allen continued strong hiring. Hospitality also continued strong employment as Pizza Hut, Marriott, Cracker Barrel, Friendly’s, and Boston Market were among the top hiring firms this week.

Telecommunications firms are still looking, with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon still staffing actively. Retail continues staffing into February, as Sears, Kmart, JC Penny, Flying J, Murphy, Macy’s, Radio Shack and Walmart were top hiring firms.

Banking continued recruiting as JPMorganChase and PNC were included in the top hiring companies. Health care hiring continued its strong past quarter, led by HCR ManorCare, and UnitedHealth in the top 10, joined by Amedisys Home Health, Gentiva Health, Fresenius Medical Care, Genesis Healthcare, DaVita, Quest Diagnostics, and Kindred Healthcare among the health care top hiring companies.

Defense companies also continued staffing as General Dynamics Raytheon, and US Army made the list.

Based on surveys of US job advertisements in the top job board aggregators, the following companies added the most job openings:

Job Openings Added This Week:

The Business Services, Retail, Insurance, Telecommunications, Banking, and Health care verticals are the top industries with new job postings based on a survey of the nations’ leading job advertisements added during the past seven days.

Business Services led new hiring advertisements as Deloitte and IBM were in the top 10 this week, joined by SAIC, Siemens Business Services, and Booz Allen. Retail continued staffing this week as Sears, Toys”R”Us, Pilot, Kmart, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and RadioShack were top job advertisers.

Insurance made a big move into the top 10 this week as Aflac jumps nearly 40 spots to number 3 – watch out for that duck! Telecommunications remained strong for the past quarter with AT&T and T-Mobile in the top 10, followed by Verizon.

Citi and PNC made the top 10 this week, while JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citizens Financial and Wells Fargo were banks among the top hiring firms this week. Health care was included in the top recruiting companies including UnitedHealth, Fresenius Medical Care, Genesis Healthcare, HCR Manorcare, Genzyme, DaVita, Amedisys Home Health, and Kindred Health Care.

Many of these companies just say that they are hiring and really are just looking for a few employess. I've contact some of the businesses in my area and they say that the headquarters always posts job openings but that they're not hiring. It's free advertising for these businesses. In this economy they are also laying off people, yet they say that they're hiring to give themselve a fabulous positive public image.
