Who's Hiring - Top employers week of 3-1-10


Who's Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 3/1/10.


Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings:

The business services, telecommunications, banking, retail, health care, and defense verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nations’ leading job boards.

Business Service topped this week’s list with IBM, Deloitte, and SAIC continued strong hiring. Telecommunications firms are still looking, with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon still staffing actively.

Banking continued recruiting as JPMorganChase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and PNC were included in the top hiring companies. Retail continues staffing into March, as Sears, Blockbuster, Kmart, Macy’s, Walmart, Radio Shack, and Ann Taylor were top hiring firms.

Health care hiring continued strong for the past half year, led by UnitedHealth, Amedisys Home Health, Gentiva Health, Fresenius Medical Care, HCR ManorCare, Genesis Healthcare, DaVita, and Kindred Healthcare among the health care top hiring companies. Defense companies also continued staffing as General Dynamics Raytheon, and US Army made the list.

Based on surveys of US job advertisements in the top job board aggregators, the following companies added the most job openings:

Job Openings Added This Week:

The Business Services, Retail, Telecommunications, Government, and Banking verticals are the top industries with new job postings based on a survey of the nations’ leading job advertisements added during the past seven days.

Business Services led new hiring advertisements as IBM, SAIC, and Deloitte were in the top 10 this week, joined by Booz Allen and CSC. Retail continued staffing this week as Blockbuster, Sears, JCPenny, Kmart, JoS. A. Bank, Murphy USA, Macy's, and RadioShack were top job advertisers.

Telecommunications remained strong for the past quarter with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Government made a big move with government contractor ManTech and the US Department of Veterans Affairs both making the top 10.

Banks including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo were included in the country's top hiring firms this week.
