Who's Hiring - Top employers week of 3-29-10



Who's Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 3/29/10.


Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings:
The retail, telecommunications, business services, health care, hospitality, and banking verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nations’ leading job boards.

Retail topped this week's list as it continued staffing into March. Advance Auto Parts, Sears, Kmart, and Lowe's were all top 10 hiring firms, followed by Blockbuster, Macy’s, Walgreens and Radio Shack. Telecommunications firms were next with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon still staffing actively. Business Service is still looking, with IBM, and Booz Allen continued strong hiring.

Health care hiring continued strong hiring for the past half year, led by HCR ManorCare, Amedisys Home Health, Gentiva Health, UnitedHealth, Genesis Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, DaVita, Kindred Health Care, Fresenius Medical Care, and Quest Diagnostics among the top hiring companies. Hospitality added employees with PizzaHut, Marriott, and Hilton making this week's list.

Banking is still recruiting as JPMorganChase, PNC, and Bank of America were included in the top hiring companies.

Job Openings Added This Week:

The retail, telecommunications, business services, and defense verticals are the top industries with new job postings based on a survey of the nations’ leading job advertisements added during the past seven days.


Retail was new hiring advertisements this week as Advance Auto Parts, Sears, Kmart, GNC, Safeway, JC Penny, Lowe's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Murphy USA, Macy's, and Walgreens were top job advertisers. Telecommunication continued staffing this week with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon making the top new job listings this week.

Business Services came in next with IBM, Deloitte, Booz Allen, and ACS were included in the top job advertisers this week. Defense was also strong in staffing with General Dynamics, and Raytheon in the week's top firms.
