Who's Hiring – Top employers week of 2-15-10


Who's Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 2/15/10.


Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings:

The business services, hospitality, retail, defense, banking, telecommunications, and health care verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nations’ leading job boards.

Business Service topped this week’s list with IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, and Booz Allen continued strong hiring. Hospitality also continued strong employment as Pizza Hut, Marriott, Cracker Barrel, Friendly’s, Boston Market, and Hilton were among the top hiring firms this week.

Retail hiring continues staffing into February, as Sears and Kmart made the top 10 long after the holiday season joined by JC Penny, Flying J, and Murphy as top hiring firms. Defense companies remained top hiring firms led by US Army, General Dynamics, and Raytheon making the list.

Banking continued recruiting as JPMorganChase and PNC were included in the top hiring companies. Telecommunications firms are still looking, with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon still staffing actively.

Health care hiring continued its strong past quarter, led by UnitedHealth, joined by Amedisys Home Health, Gentiva Health, Fresenius Medical Care, HCR ManorCare, Genesis Healthcare, DaVita, Quest Diagnostics, Hgi Healthcare, and Kindred Healthcare among the health care top hiring companies.

Based on surveys of US job advertisements in the top job board aggregators, the following companies added the most job openings:

Job Openings Added This Week:

The Business Services, Telecommunications, Health care, Retail, and Banking verticals are the top industries with new job postings based on a survey of the nations’ leading job advertisements added during the past seven days.

Business Services led new hiring advertisements as IBM and Deloitte were the top two hiring companies this week, joined by SAIC and Accenture. Telecommunications remained strong for the past quarter with AT&T continuing top 10, followed by T-Mobile and Verizon.

Health care was included in the top recruiting companies including UnitedHealth, Fresenius Medical Care, Quest Diagnostics, and Genzyme. Retail continued staffing this week as Sears, Toys”R”Us, Kmart, Macy’s, Walgreens, RadioShack and CVS/Caremark were top job advertisers.

Citi, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citizen’s Financial were banks among the top hiring firms this week.
